Recently, the Secondary English Sections of Colégio Diocesano de São José 2, 5, and 6 Schools jointly organised an inter-school lesson observation and exchange event. The three schools showcased their unique lessons, highlighting distinct pedagogical strengths across various subjects.
During the observations, the English lesson at CDSJ5 focused on teaching the passive voice. To bring this grammar concept to life, the lesson employed interactive formats such as impromptu group sentence construction and short dramatic performances, which effectively enhanced students' language application skills through creativity and expression. The science lesson at CDSJ6 successfully integrated STEM elements; students calculated focal length and lumens before building their own equipment to test the light transmittance of different liquids, thereby fostering an investigative spirit and practical hands-on skills. Meanwhile, the mathematics lesson at CDSJ2 emphasised teacher-student interaction, drawing on everyday experiences to introduce the Cartesian coordinate system, which enabled students to fully appreciate the close connection between mathematics and daily life.
Following the lessons, teachers from the participating schools shared words of encouragement, constructive feedback, and positive recognition. They engaged in in-depth discussions regarding curriculum planning, teaching material selection, and future prospects. The dialogue also revealed numerous similarities in teaching activities and educational philosophies across the three institutions. Building upon this solid foundation, all parties look forward to launching diverse student exchange programmes in the future, further promoting inter-school collaboration and shared learning.
